By / Bathroom Remodel / Comments Off on Ask Your Bathroom Remodeler for These Upgrades

Remodeling the bathroom provides the perfect opportunity to add little upgrades that you will enjoy every day, year after year.  A bathroom remodeler that keeps up with the latest innovations may suggest upgrades you don’t even know about.  Don’t think they are trying to upsell you. They are just a great bathroom remodeler!  Check out these bathroom upgrades from Inspired Remodels.

Lighted Mirrors

When it comes time to get up close and personal with your grooming, you want the best light possible. So ask your bathroom remodeler to install lighted mirrors or medicine cabinets with lighted mirrors.

You’ll get brighter light focused just where you want it. And they can be easily turned off when not in use, saving energy and money.

Dual rainshower heads

Customized Showerheads

Make sure your shower head delivers the experience you expect. If you enjoy long showers but worry about wasting water, worry no more. Ask your bathroom remodeler to install a low-flow or water-efficient showerhead.  This style of shower head is widely available and reduces the amount of water flowing through the head.  Even long showers use a fraction of the water as a traditional showerhead.  The showerhead delivers large drops of water that feels like a high-pressure head.

Speaking of pressure, if you like high pressure, make sure the bathroom remodeler installs a shower head that can deliver the pressure or massaging features you want.

Maybe you want a rain shower head but your spouse prefers a handheld shower. There’s no need to compromise. Just ask the remodeler to install a dual head.

Every bath or shower becomes a spa experience when you wrap your body and hair in a heated towel. Heated towel racks provide extra comfort and extra storage space.

For this Rancho Santa Margarita project, the bathroom remodeler added the heated towel rack right outside the shower door. This keeps the warm towels at your fingertips, whether you are in the vanity or shower area. Quick heating racks get towels heating up in as little as 5 minutes.

Heated Floors

Orange County mornings and evenings can be chilly. Stepping out of a hot shower or a warm tub shocks the toesies when they hit a cold floor.

Integrated radiant heating heats the room by heating the flooring. The heat mats install under your flooring and are controlled by a wall-mounted thermostat.

Heated floors provide a luxurious feeling you’ll appreciate over and over again. Ask your bathroom remodeler if the flooring you selected is compatible with heated floors.

Orange County bathroom designers install lighted medicine cabinets with mirrors centered over two sinks

How gorgeous are the dual sinks and lighted medicine cabinets? Medicine cabinets have come a long way from the boring mirrored boxes hung on the wall. Sofia Medicine Cabinets hits it out of the park in this bathroom.

The lighting provides the perfect level of illumination for when you need to see clearly. Whether it’s flossing or removing a splinter, you’ll be humming to the tune of “I Can See Clearly Now”.

And because storage is always an issue in bathrooms, medicine cabinets provide an unbeaten way to maximize space and keep smaller toiletries right at hand.

Frankly, would you have known these lighted mirrors concealed storage?

And when it comes to cleaning up, this bathroom doubles the functionality. From the spectacular soaking tub to the sensational rimless shower stall, options abound for scrubbing or soaking the day away.

Bathroom Designers Create Art With Tile

You can slap subway tile on the walls and call it a day. You’ll have a clean, modern look. But why stop there?

Some bathroom designers see bathroom tile as a medium for creating art in the bathroom. By using different installation patterns or unique tile shapes and colors, they transform walls, backsplashes, showers, and tub surrounds into works of art.

Orange County bathroom designers use white picket tile and round, black mirrors in bathroom

This picket-shaped tile creates a stunning accent wall and the perfect contrast for the dual round, black mirrors.  Grout slightly darker than the tile brings the unique picket shape to prominence.

A soaking tub niche gets elevated with rare, linen-look tile. These unique tile planks create the feeling of soaking in a tub, hidden by a screen of fine linen or grasses.

It’s all part of a knockout bathroom design. The same tile creates an accent wall in the brilliantly crafted shower.

Linen tile isn’t the only design that imitates nature. For this Aliso Viejo remodel, the bathroom designers incorporated a leaf-shaped tile to create a work of art.

Picking an Orange County Home Improvement Contractor

By / Bathroom Remodel, Home Improvement, Kitchen Remodel / Comments Off on Picking an Orange County Home Improvement Contractor

Thinking of a remodel? With prices on the rise and material inventories going down, now is the time to act. Whether you want a new bathroom, a remodeled kitchen, or a fresh fireplace make sure you pick an Orange County home improvement contractor that delivers on time and on budget. Here are a few tips.

The best way to start your search is by casting a wide net. Ask friends, neighbors, family members, coworkers, and even your fellow gym rats.

See a sign in the neighbor’s yard? Don’t be afraid to ring the bell and ask about the work. The people you know are going to give you the most honest appraisal of the work they had done.

And, if someone shares a horror story, listen carefully and learn. Not only will you learn who to avoid, but you’ll also learn what mistakes were made in the selection process.

Ask for Quotes

Once you’ve identified a few home improvement contractors, ask them to give you a quote. It’s important to get multiple quotes for the project.

To make an apples-to-apples comparison easier, make sure that each contractor gives you a quote for the same work and the same quality finishes. For example, if you want bamboo flooring, then make sure all quotes include bamboo flooring.

quotes from home improvement contractors

Otherwise, you might compare click-lock luxury vinyl planks to woven-strand bamboo hardwood planks. That’s not an even comparison. Beware of any bid that is substantially lower than the others you receive.

During the quoting process, find out what work the contractor will perform and what work will be subcontracted out to another company or tradesman. Subcontracting for trades like plumbing and electrical is a common practice, but you want to know about it in advance.

Check for Home Improvement Contractor Licensing

Once you’ve narrowed your selection down to a few contractors, it is time to check their licenses.

A handyman or casual remodeler won’t have a license. However, a professional home improvement contractor will be licensed by the State of California as a building contractor.

You can call (800) 321- 2752 or search online at the Department of Consumer Affairs.

You might be tempted to check with the Better Business Bureau too. But remember that companies pay to be a member of the BBB and membership doesn’t necessarily mean they provide quality services.

Ask for References

Ask the contractor for references. A quality home improvement contractor has a long list of satisfied customers and won’t hesitate to offer their contact information.

Be sure to follow through and call the references. Find out what they liked about the process and what they disliked.

Were there problems during the work? If so, were they resolved to the homeowner’s satisfaction?

Check Social Media

Once you are ready to make a selection, go and check social media sites for reviews. You may find contractor reviews on Yelp and Houzz.

As you read reviews, notice if projects are completed on time, and on budget, and how any bumps are smoothed out. This provides insight into the contractor’s business practices.

If the company is like Inspired Remodels, you’ll find loads of happy customers and pictures of stunning bathrooms, kitchens, patios, fireplaces, and whole-house remodeling.
