Custom cabinets are pricey. Stock cabinets look like cookie-cutter cabinets but are inexpensive. What’s a person to do when budgeting for a kitchen remodel? Use semi-custom cabinetry.  Inspired Remodels, Orange County’s famous kitchen cabinet contractor, shows how to use semi-custom cabinets from Decora, Kitchen Craft, or Waypoint to get a custom look at almost stock prices.

Decora

Rely on Decora for high-end cabinets manufactured in the USA. For over 30 years, Decora has been outfitting kitchens with quality constructed cabinets in stunning designs.

Decide if you want an overlay. Then just lay out the design that fits your needs. Inspired Remodels measures your space and recommends the combination of base and wall cabinets that meet your cooking and lifestyle needs.  We’ll take into account electricity, plumbing, windows, doors, etc.

KitchenCraft Cabinets

Do your tastes run to modern, European, or contemporary? Then KitchenCraft makes the semi-custom for you. This Canadian-based company combines good looks and quality construction to give you the look you want.

The Integra Collection gives you solid or square door options in a variety of finishes that include contemporary looks like bamboo, Thermafoil,  and white oak as well as more traditional cherry, alder, and maple.

Cherry Square Door with Mocha Glaze

What makes KitchenCraft special is its approach to semi-custom cabinetry. The result is almost fully custom. In addition to picking your door style and wood, they give you numerous options in glazes. So, just a simple change of glaze can completely change the look of the finish.

Just imagine the same cabinet door with this Bordeaux Black Glaze.  It’s the same wood and the same door, just a different glaze. Pick from standard or premium glazes.

Waypoint Cabinets

Multiple plants across the United States allows Waypoint Cabinets to hold the line on transportation costs and passes the savings on to you. That’s important if you are concerned about your carbon footprint.

Waypoint is committed to sustainable manufacturing practices. They work with suppliers to encourage sustainable forestry practices and work to limit VOC emissions.

They make beautiful cabinets too.

600 Series Cherry with Java Finish

In addition to the finishes and glazes offered by the other manufacturers, Waypoint offers nine painted finishes in a palate from white to grey.

Kitchen Renovation Trends For Orange County Kitchen Remodels

Hemlines go up and down. Facial hair goes in and out of style. Interior design is subject to trends as well. If you plan a kitchen renovation this year, you may want to pay attention to these trends.

Mixed Metals

Metals are getting mixy-matchy for 2019. The days of stainless appliances and brushed nickle faucets are over. Chrome is making a comeback and fits in well with industrial, modern and classic decor.

mixing metals in a strong kitchen renovation trend for 2019

How many metals do you see in this photo?

The metal pulls and knobs on your cabinets don’t need to match your faucet either. Or your appliances. Pulls and knobs are one of the hottest ways to get a grip on this kitchen renovation trend for 2019. Not ready to tackle the entire room? You can get a fresh look by just updating the cabinet hardware. If you can handle a screwdriver, you can handle this DIY task.

You don’t need black appliances for your cabinets to rock this black hardware. Mix and match your metals for maximum contrast.

Quartz Countertops

Nothing says 1990 through the early 2000’s as granite. Granite in the kitchen, granite in the bathroom, granite almost everywhere but the garage floor. It time to say goodbye to granite and hello to quartz.

Bye bye Granite

Quartz is a much harder surface. That makes it much more well suited for the kitchen. Unlike porous granite that can harbor bacteria, quartz doesn’t need sealing.

Clean lines, cool colors, and plays well with a variety of finishes. It’s also perfectly suited for undermount sinks. Not every counter material can make that boast.

Where granite was once a sign of luxury, by the end of the year it may be considered quaint and old-fashioned.

Evoking Emotion

Just because kitchens are workrooms, doesn’t mean they need to be devoid of warmth, feeling, and emotion. Stark white and tone-on-tone are on the way out. Colors, lighting, and finishes that evoke emotion and a sense of warmth and home are in for 2019.

local home remodelint contractors mix grey and blue tile in Lake Forest kitchenThis Lake Forest kitchen renovation uses bold tile, two tone cabinets, and warm wood to make any cook feel right at home here. Instead of white lower cabinets, a warm tone wood finish evokes a feeling of comfort. Graphic tile on the accent wall gives the room a sense a personality while seamlessly flowing into the neutral tone subway tile backsplash. Of course quartz countertops fit right in with this design. By the way, notice the use of mixed metals. This kitchen embodies all the hottest kitchen renovation trends for 2019 and will look stylish for years to come.

Kitchen Remodeler Says Hello to 2019 Trends

By / Kitchen Remodel / Comments Off on Kitchen Remodeler Says Hello to 2019 Trends

Time to say goodbye to 2018 and 2019 trends. While some designs are timeless, others come and go. Inspired Remodels, the Orange County kitchen remodeler that designs and builds looks forward to 2019 trends.

Warmer Neutrals

Grey has been the new black and white for several years now. But in 2019, neutrals are ready to get warmer. While gray will still be popular, look for its iciness to be replaced by warm neutral tones.

kitchen remodeler mixes warmth of beige with cool grey for classic lookThis kitchen is a perfect example of how gray neutrals are warmed with beige. The earthy tones of the floor and chairs warm up the grey of the island and backsplash tiles.

These neutrals allow the countertops and sink fixtures to provide just the right pop of color. In previous years, that same countertop would have been used with cool grey, but this kitchen remodeler is warming things up now.

Pattern Tiles

The reign of single tone subway tile is quickly coming to an end. The savvy kitchen remodeler is adding color with the use of tile and grout. Tiles are taking on shapes and colors usually reserved for bathrooms.

In the past, this accent tile would be reserved for a shower or fireplace. But 2019 asks why? The mix of colors and geometric shapes is the perfect foil to the grey subway. This is clearly a kitchen in transition. But the warm floors and patterned tile accent wall lead the way in kitchen design for 2019.

Here’s another example of pattern tile in the kitchen. Sure, you still see gray subway tile and Shaker cabinets, but holey moley look at that tile! Intricate mosaic pieces, surrounded with accents and held together with almost invisible grout create a work of art.

If you aren’t ready to give up the entire backsplash, let go of a little subway tile and add an accent wall to the kitchen. You’ll be so very 2019.

Curves

From lighting to exhaust hoods, things are getting curvy in the kitchen. Industrial style exhaust hoods still grace many a cook top, but the lines are changing. Boxes are loosing their sharp lines and stainless is getting sexy.

Gone are the rigid corners and boxlike hoods. These sensuous lines emulate the soft curves of nature and the natural human body. Curves bring serenity to an area (the cook top) that can be a literal hotbed of stress (pun intended.) That’s because curves are soothing to the eye.

pendant lighting used in kitchen renovation to provide task lightsCurves aren’t just for hoods. In this kitchen remodel, curves soften everything from the light fixtures to the faucet fixtures. Countertop corners are radius and even the back of the barstools are curved. No wonder this space feels so serene.
