A new year means new design trends. Inspired Remodels, the Orange County general contractors with their finger on the pulse of design, share the big trends of 2021.

Wood and Wood Look Floors

Orange County loves wood and wood-look floors. That won’t change in 2021.

Pick a room, pick a look, pick the most appropriate flooring.

Living areas, dining rooms, bedrooms, hallways, and home offices sport wood and wood-look flooring.

2021 finds Orange County general contractors nailing and gluing down hardwoods, floating engineered click-lock flooring, and laying wood-look ceramic and porcelain tiles.

Wood-look tile for walls and the seat is the perfect complement to the river stone floor. This type of tile works perfectly in wet areas where wood just won’t do.

Wood or wood-look tile? Can you tell the difference? The wood-look tile of 2021 looks more like wood than the wood itself. Grain and color gradations emulate natural wood closely. Some flooring products feature distressed surfaces as well. So, you can get the look of weathered and repurposed wood in a more durable product that costs much less money as well.

2021 is going to be a great year for flooring.

Colored Cabinets

Colored cabinets are back. Whether it’s a contrasting color for upper and lower cabinets, a specimen piece for a bar, or even a kitchen island, colored cabinets turn up in unexpected places in 2021.

Gray trended for the last 5 years. So, it’s no surprise that green and blue would become two of the most popular cabinet colors. They pair perfectly with gray!

In the kitchen, green lower cabinets put the shine on stainless steel appliances and contrast beautifully with white upper cabinets. And green goes well with so many wood flooring options to boot!

Here’s a different room, a different color cabinet, and different flooring. But it still works wonderfully. The blue bathroom vanity with white top and wavy-textured ceramic tile takes all the drama from the kitchen above and creates a look that’s completely different.

That’s the flexibility of colored cabinets, and blue is the color for cabinets in 2021.

Bamboo Flooring

Eco-conscious consumers flock to bamboo flooring. It’s renewable and much harder than other hardwood floorings. Strand woven bamboo flooring goes to places where wood cowers.

Perfect for high-traffic areas like kitchens, entryways, and hallways. Contrary to popular belief, bamboo floors stand up to refinishing.

Be sure to look for bamboo flooring that’s FloorScore certified. You’ll breathe easier knowing your flooring does off-gas harmful chemicals.

Orange County Interior Remodeling Inspiration for Bathrooms

By / Bathroom Remodel / Comments Off on Orange County Interior Remodeling Inspiration for Bathrooms

Now that you’ve been confined to home since March, are you looking for a change of scenery? Want a new kitchen, bath, fireplace, or bedroom? If the answer is yes, but you don’t know where to start, take a look at what Inspired Remodels has been doing.  Our recent Orange County interior remodeling jobs may give you a few ideas.

What’s Happening with Orange County Bathrooms?

In Mission Viejo, neutral is proving to be quite dramatic.

Orange County Interior remodeling project uses herringbone tile pattern on floorWith the subdued white marble on the countertop and shower, even the lightest wood tones stand out.

Durable rubbed bronze fixtures provide understated elegance.

Matching hardware for cabinets and drawers pulls your eye to focus on those details.

But let’s be honest.

What’s stunning about this bathroom is the herringbone design on the floor tile. When we discussed tile patterns, the herringbone was highlighted as a beautiful and economical way to get the look of a chevron pattern without the waste and added expense of mitering the end of each tile.

This Mission Viejo bathroom remodel shows this design concept beautifully.

This Orange County interior remodeling job created elegance with neutral tones and creative use of tile.

This Mission Viejo bathroom remodel shows how to use two neutral tones to create a clean look that lets the accessories shine.

Black (espresso) cabinets with clean white countertops and floors look good now and will still look good in 20 years.

They provide the perfect backdrop for accessorizing with cabinet hardware and faucets.

The paint is greige, but you could use any color.

That’s because these two neutrals let the focus move to smaller elements for flair.

Everyone knows that the small elements are easier and less expensive to update than the larger ones.

That means you can change the look of this Mission Viejo bathroom by simply changing the color of the towels, soap holder, or even the paint.

Not every Orange County interior remodeling job that Inspired Remodels does is in Mission Viejo. The bathroom remodel above is in Aliso Viejo. And it’s completely different.

This rich and elegant bathroom uses wood-look tile extensively. The wall tile lines remind you of the lines of the San Joaquin hills just outside.

Wood-look tile is perfect for creating an at-home spa. Just toss in a soaking tub and a chandelier and you may never leave this room!

Bathroom Remodel Company Creates Home Sanctuaries

By / Bathroom Remodel / Comments Off on Bathroom Remodel Company Creates Home Sanctuaries

These days people are spending more time than ever at home. Whether you are working for home or confined under  a stay-at-home order, “home” has a whole new meaning. In Orange County, Inspired Remodels, a bathroom remodel company, is turning homes into sanctuaries.

The Concept of Sanctuary

A sanctuary is a place of refuge or safety. Traditionally, it is a holy place.  When you are threatened, fearful, or in danger, you turn to a sanctuary to protect you.

During the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, the home has become a sanctuary. When the government tells you to shelter in place, it’s the place you want to be.

So, in a way, your home is already a sanctuary.

Why shouldn’t it feel like one?

Inspired Remodels believes that in all times (good and bad) your home is a place of refuge and every room should feel like a sanctuary, especially the bathroom.

Spa Sanctuary

Some bathrooms feel like a spa sanctuary. When you’ve had enough of flattening the curve, economic shutdown, and Dr. Fauchi it’s time to retreat.

Draw a hot or warm bath and soak. Relax surrounded by peaceful, neutral colors and finishes from nature.

While the current circumstances aren’t exactly what the bathroom remodel company had in mind when creating this bathroom, it was designed to be a place to relax and unwind. A refuge of a sort.  A bathroom sanctuary with a spa feel.

local home remodeling contractors create spa bathroomsNatural light floods the room from the top half of the window while the bottom is shaded for privacy.

From the tile mosaic that starts as a backsplash and continues at chair rail height to add visual interest to the cool stone floors and vanity top, nature is all around you.

The soaking tub beckons you to slip off your clothes and slip into soothing, calming waters.

The simplicity of the shaker-style cabinetry and the clean lines of the dual mirrors complete the look.

Of course, the seashell accent finishes the look.

Who wouldn’t want to forget about viruses, face masks, and social distancing in this room?

Not looking for sanctuary in an Asian-inspired spa experience? How about an Italian escape? This bathroom remodel is heavily influenced by a rustic Roman aesthetic.

Mix natural stone with man-made tile for contrast.   Use oiled bronze faucets to achieve a rustic farmhouse feel.

No simple shaker cabinetry here. This vanity is replete with moldings that border on Baroque.

Frosted glass tempers the light in the room.

Close your eyes and you could be in Italy.

The craftsman’s attention to detail is clear in the shower. A simple space for performing routine hygiene is a work of art.  A niche provides convenience. The built-in bench beckons you to linger in this bathroom sanctuary.
